Since 2014 Fabien Theofilakis is a Member of the Canadian Center for German and European Studies and a Visiting Professor at the University of Montreal, Canada. In 2010 he finished his PhD at the University of Paris-Ouest Nanterre and the University of Augsburg by defending a thesis on “German Prisoners of War in French Hands (1944 – 1949): Captivity in France, Repatriation to Germany”.

Later he became a Teaching Assistant at the University of Paris-Ouest Nanterre (2008-2012) and worked as a Project manager for the exhibition on the Eichmann Trial at Mémorial de la Shoah (Paris, 2010-2011). Within 2012-2013, and again 2013-2014 he was a Visiting Researcher at the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin für Sozialforschung associated with the Centre Marc Bloch (Berlin). He´s been granted several prestigious scholarships incl. Yad Vashem (2013), DAAD (2012-2013), Fritz Thyssen Stiftung (2013-2014), USHMM (2015).
